A highlight this week: discussing #AI, gaming and how to raise emotionally intelligent kids, with the supersonically quick and soulful @Simon Johnson. He has been awarded @The Nobel Prize in economics, professors (a great verb, though I say so myself :) at @MIT Sloan School of Management and has co-authored the positive and pragmatic “Power and Progress".

What AI-related risks are we not foreseeing? One of the issues that strikes me, which I threw out into our discussion and have continued mulling over on my morning run: whether the use of semantic models will lead to impoverished languages over time where models PREDICT the most likely next word based on probabilities rather than pick or create the MOST DESCRIPTIVE one. The brilliance of Shakespeare, Luther, Austen, Tolkien and Finland’s own Aleksis Kivi, to mention a few, was in the invention and recombination of words, and if THEY had used words based on probability, perhaps many aspects of our beautiful languages would have remained undeveloped. I would love to see an academia-industry collaboration to preserve our linguistic heritage and help train AI to foster verbal creativity, if not done already. #ProjectSh-AI-keaspeare #CallToAction alma maters @University of Oxford @University of Cambridge
